About
This is where I am suppose to tell the world out there about me, about us. The strange thing is during conversation, people are really not interested about who I am, what I am. So I really don’t know why you want to know more about me if the rest of the world seems to carry on without ever knowing my story. That is why I started a blog. It does not matter of no one comes to visit, I just want to tell the world my story, from my point of view. Sounds egoistic? That is what some people tell me, that I am overflowing of ego, when they know I had my own domain.
So this is all about me, me.. me.. and sometimes.. us.. There has to be an us somewhere…No man is an island.
I work as a software engineer, a field which I feel people treat like a second class citizen. We are a dime a dozen. Work takes up most of my time, but if I have free time, I like to watch TV! ASTRO to be exact. I like to eat. I will eat anything as long as its cooked and I don’t know what is it that I am eating. I like gadgets too. Nothing too expensive cause I can’t afford those expensive stuff. My hand-phone is 5 years old and does not even have color screen. But I have kitchen gadgets of almost any kind.
I read Newsweek. I keep myself up the time as much as I can.
I volunteer for the Malaysian Red Crescent Society. Now I am handling all community service and health in the Island Chapter, Penang. Trying hard to catch up with the younger people. I always say that the Red Crescent Society for me is to redeem my karma points. I have been a member since I was in primary school and I am not about to stop now. well at least when they wanted around.
I grew up in Penang and after my form 6, I was determined to get out of the small island. Stayed in KL for close to 5 years, studied and worked there. Later found out that life in Penang is better, higher pay, less traffic, no toll, never run out of sugar.
Right now, I am a software engineer for a MNC in Penang. Being a software engineer, I feel that I am a second class engineer. Speak of engineer and you think of electrical, electronics, mechanical and civil engineer. Software? we are not engineers, we are just people who tinker around with computers, not a real engineer. So I always call my self an engineer wannabe since to everyone, software engineers are not really fully engineer but my job is engineering in nature. I have a beef with this stereotype.
I have since married to a wonderful wife who hails from Kuching. Being there a few times myself, it changed my perception towards the world. How can a place so near, be so different. The slow pace of life and the abundant of wide open spaces in Kuching, a total opposite from the cramped and messy Penang, gave me a whole new perspective towardws life.
People always asked, how is married life? I tend to answer that married life is wonderful. How can it now be when you have someone to share you life, pain and wonderful moments together. The games we play, the stories we tell and the things we do that no one will ever understand. Most importantly, marriage is to have someone sharing the same future are you. How can that not be wonderful.
